I am a creative person who reimagines the every day - using what I have, what already is, and what others want, to create spaces, places, objects and experiences filled with love, colour, creativity, stories and conversation!

I always felt that I was going to live the life of a creative. Ever since I was in the single digits watching Fashion Television, sipping my coke with crushed iced as a treat after dinner on Sundays. I’m committed to knowing that I need to live a life that’s creative. This is who I am. And that’s always been my focus. Regardless of what the world’s doing, what they think of me, what they think style is or what fashion is. I don’t care. Because I think my work has been to help people along the way. I’ve learned that this mandate has helped me help people remember who they are.

Design is like a treasure hunt, or putting together a puzzle. And you have to take time when you’re looking for clues on a treasure hunt, or you’re looking for the pieces that match in a puzzle. When you’re a creative person, for me, your life is about observation and examination. You’re looking at the world around you, and that’s the masterpiece. You’re just taking cues from all these things that are around you. Every single experience you have is informing whatever it is that you’ll be able to help with for that next project, that next person, that next thing. That’s sort of how I look at it.

It’s fascinating how we’re sort of programmed to be a certain way. And when we can kind of flip back to factory settings, then we can go “hey wait, hold on, I love purple!  Why’d I stop using purple?! Why’d I think ten years ago purple was uncool?! I fucking love purple!”  It’s okay to love colour, it’s okay to have fun, it’s okay to do things your way, it’s okay to be different. It’s okay to not do what everyone else is doing, and more than anything, it’s so important to trust yourself.

What makes someone a creative?

Curiosity, invention, trying something, risk, love.  Someone who’s willing to march to their own drum, and not care what other people have to say about it.

What is your why?

There are too many why’s. But I will start with my love for reframing things. How people see themselves and how they see the life that they've constructed around them. How what I do can help reframe how someone looks at something so that we can find the beauty in what we have, our choices, using our own two hands to make or improve what we can. My love for colour is always a part of my why. How colour is so healing and not entirely intended for aesthetic purposes. How creative use of humble materials makes style and beauty accessible always. How reusing and remembering are so important on our style journey. How anything is possible with design and the power of it in almost any situation.

I think beauty is everywhere. Joy is why we’re here and to remember who we are, and not look at what everyone else is doing. No one else should affect your decisions or anything you’re doing. By coming back to yourself, you will find your joy.

What is your most treasured memory so far?

There’s a lot of treasured moments!  We shouldn’t just hold it to this one thing that happened to us when we were five. Every day should be something to treasure. Every moment is a treasure!

What have you never understood?

A monochromatic life. I don’t understand living a life in tones and shades. Like if someone just wants to live in grey, black and white, I don’t understand that. It makes me sad.

And I have such a hard time with ageism. Truly one of my best friends is 72 and she’s down the street and I don’t give a fuck that she’s 72. She’s the coolest. Age - when people think you can or cannot do certain things, dress a certain way, have certain hair, own certain things, I think that’s a story, that’s their story.

What talent do you yearn for?

I want to learn more about cameras. I want to know more about plants and flowers. I long to play the piano and learn French for real. Not the highschool kind.

What is the one word that resonates most with you?

LOVE

What do you love most about what you do as a creative?

That I get to live my life the way I see it. The changing times, space, challenges, ideas, flexibility, freedom, and sometimes discomfort from pushing things around to create.

If you could create one thing to make the world a better place what would it be?

A device to help everyone see and feel pure unconditional love and support always.

"I'm a creative person who reimagines the every day."

She is everything. A pink haired woman who has never stopped creating with virtually every medium or following her inner drum. She touches everything there could be to create on. Her work transcends. She is still working. Still creating at 81 & still putting out exciting work.

A person who reinvented himself, reimagined an estate filled with high design that was accessible and desirable enough for him to build a brand from the space and out of things he has grown and harvested there and with fellow farming friends. Like the bougie farm box of your dreams. Straight out of LA.
